Jan Hanousek Jr., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Memphis, Fogelman College of Business.

His research interests include behavioral finance, insider trading, information asymmetry, corporate finance, applied finance, and economics/econometrics, while his teaching includes various topics from financial markets, the role of institutions, investments, and behavioral finance. Dr. Hanousek has published in Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Empirical Finance. His research has been featured in several media outlets like Bloomberg, Money.com, and New York Times. He won First Place in the Young Economist Award by the Czech Economic Society in 2022 for his work in political insider trading. He has a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of South Florida, an M.A. in Applied Economics from CERGE-EI, and an undergraduate degree in statistics from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University.
